What are DotNetNuke Skins

Skins are the templates that will define the website look and feel and layout. A skin can also be treated as a template.

Skins are probably one of the most flexible features in DotNetNuke. The possibility to change a page design and layout with just one click is what make them so powerful.

A page skin (or template) holds content areas determined by a simple tag like <div id="Contentpane" runat="server">. All that you need to do is add the tag id="ContentPane" runat="server" to any of the following: TD, DIV or SPAN. The only requirement is that a skin MUST have at least one ContentPane area defined. The other content areas can have any name such as "leftPane", "rightPane" and so on. Within these areas the user will be able to add modules.
